What is Kitting?
Kitting is the process of combining several separate items (SKUs) into a single, ready-to-ship package or kit. Rather than picking each component individually when an order comes in, kitted products are pre-assembled and stored as a single unit, improving fulfillment efficiency and reducing the labor costs associated with picking multiple items per order.
At Canadian Alliance, kitting is part of our broader fulfillment services. We can build kits in advance and store them as single SKUs, or assemble kits on-demand at the time of order, depending on what works best for your business and product mix.
Light Assembly Services
Beyond combining products into kits, we offer light assembly services for products that require additional preparation before shipping or retail display.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is kitting?
Kitting is the process of combining multiple separate items (SKUs) into a single, ready-to-ship package. This improves fulfillment efficiency by reducing the number of picks required per order and streamlining the packing process.
Can you build kits in advance or only at time of order?
We offer both options. Pre-built kits are assembled in advance and stored as single SKUs for fast fulfillment. On-demand kitting assembles kits when orders come in, providing flexibility for variable configurations or lower-volume products.
What types of assembly do you handle?
We provide light assembly services including attaching parts and components, assembling retail displays and point-of-purchase units, bundling products, and preparing items for retail-ready packaging. For complex assembly projects, contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
How is inventory tracked for kits?
Our WMS tracks inventory at both the kit level and the component level. For pre-built kits, the assembled kit is tracked as a single SKU. For on-demand kitting, component inventory is decremented as kits are assembled. You have visibility into both kit and component quantities.
